    Hello Team!
I just wanted to give a final congratulations to all of you on the EcoChallenge. Out of over 600 teams we managed to take 2nd place! That's something we should all be proud of. :) And it all came a desire to make our communities, our lives, and the world a better place. Together we actually made an impact through our actions. I will be doing the EcoChallenge in years to come and I hope many of you will join!
For those of you who have won awards please respond to this email with the award and I'll take care of it this week!

I'm very proud of you all and look forward to continuing to making positive changes together!

Also, I have added each of you to my personal newsletter that goes out about once per month so that you can stay involved! If you don't want to be a part of my newsletter just let me know.

    Best,
    Rob

Hi, "Congratulations"! It's a big big good news for me! You have become my hero! After joining your EcoChallenge team I have started walking to my work place again. First I walk towards the bus stop, take bus then after half an hour Gt down from the bus and I take  a walk at least for 15 minutes. But soon time will get longer. Thank you very much for accepting as one of your members. Our team won 2nd place ,feeling awesome!

    Hello team!
It's the final hours of the challenge. Again, I am so proud of all that we accomplished together. Thank you all for your dedication to living a better life for yourself, your community, and the Earth! It's been great to see you all challenging yourself to become more of who you want to be!
Today I cycled about 40 miles around Los Angeles doing some meetings and now I am pooped!
I will post a summary tomorrow.
    Sending love to you all!

    Hi team!
It has been a pleasure to come to this feed for the last 13 days and read about all the positive things we are doing together and on our own. I'm proud to be a part of this team and proud of all of you! I'm so glad that I learned about the EcoChallenge this year and I'm so glad that we all worked together to make our communities a little better of a place!

    Hello team!
This might seem weird, but I'm super excited about bricks and toilets right now. The combination of the two actually.
Did you know that simply by placing a brick (or bottle of water) in your toilet tank you save an equal volume of water every single flush. The brick displaces the space so it fills up with less water each time. A typical toilet can save 11 gallons of water per day with this 5 minute action.
Plus it earns you 75 points in the EcoChallenge!
I had done this already in my apartment when I had one, but I'm currently staying with a friend in San Diego so I put the brick in their toilet tank! So if you've done this already at your home you can still do the positive action and earn the points by going to a friends or doing it at your office. Just find a toilet and put that brick in!

    "Install a Toilet Tank Bank!

Today I harvested 9 pounds of ripe tomatoes on the vine, from the dumpster. So many tomatoes that I get to complete one of my EcoChallenges, which is to try a new way to prepare food. Cheryl and are going to turn them into tomato sauce and can them. We've never done that before. And we've never canned dumpster food. So this is pretty exciting. Plus I earned 50 points for our team!

Who wants to try a new way of preserving food such as canning, pickling, or baking bread?
Here's some videos Cheryl and I made on how to make your own sauerkraut, pickles, apple cider vinegar, sourdough bread:
    http://robgreenfield.tv/wildfermentation/
They are super easy and I hope you'll try some of them out and learn something new while contributing to our team. We are back in 1st place today, after a week of being in 2nd. Let's try hard to hold onto the lead for just 3 days to win the whole EcoChallenge!
    Sending my best!
    Rob

We love making our sauerkraut! Fun to try different versions. Although the kids don't think it is delish, they are slowly warming up to appreciating and are constantly amazed how it helps their health!

Nice!! Tyler and I have been on the dumpster dive grind. Tomorrow I think we are going to cook all that we found and distribute to hungry people on the street. Potatoes, corn, onions... you know. The usual.

I wanted to complete that same one-time challenge, but I am a bit nervous about canning! I was looking in a cook book and it seems kind like I needed a special system to heat up the jars/vacuum seal them... Let me know what your experience was like!

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!
Did you know that one of the one-time challenges is to watch a film about food with family and friends and talk about what you learned?
You earn 25 points for it too!
    Here's a list of films that I recommend: http://www.robgreenfield.tv/films
I challenge you to watch one this weekend and earn 25 points for the team at the same time. Just make sure that you select the challenge and then post in the feed to let the team know which film you watched!

    Today I completed 2 one-time actions!
-I explored a new hiking/ cycling trail. On my 20 mile ride from Solona Beach I rode through Torrey Pines on a path I never knew existed.
-I connected with a new nonprofit called Compassion It and have made plans to visit a prison they help at with them so I can learn more about the system and learn about how they are working to change the system in a positive way.

I love to do new things and when I first started to change my life about 6 years ago I always made goals of trying new things and going to new places. The EcoChallenge has helped reignite that in me!

I earned 25 points for each of those actions. What actions have you taken team? I would love to hear!

Win up to $150 for a nonprofit of your choice by doing one-time challenges!

    Hi team!
I just learned that I made a huge mistake and I’ve found how we can easily do more good and pull together and take 1st in this competition!
I thought you could only earn points for 2 daily actions, but it turns out you can earn points for 2 daily actions, PLUS UP TO 20 one-time actions. And each one-time action earns you 25 to 75 points depending on the challenge level! If we come together and do this we can do so much more good together and take 1st!
    Examples are:
    -plant an herb garden
-try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
-find out who in your state makes decisions that impact the environment and express your support for more environmental actions.
-explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.

I’m going to do at least 8 one time actions (see mine here)! I just selected them! We have until Wednesday to complete them.
How about you? How many actions can you complete to live more environmentally friendly and healthy?
The 3 members of our team that complete the most one-time actions will get to give funds to a nonprofit of their choice.
    $150 for 1st
    $100 for 2nd
    $50 for 3rd
    $25 for 4th

Sending you all lots of encouragement to work for a better world.
Please ask any questions if you have them!
    Rob

I wanted to share this wonderful message from our teammate DEZI DESIERVI
"I started this challenge late and thought I might not be contributing much. But what I didn't realize is how much I can do in one day because I care, and because I have been working on gradually becoming more conscious and aware of my choices. It's really pretty easy, and enjoyable, to spend time in the garden planting, to buy organic, etc. The list of challenges shows me what I can do, and the impact I can make by simply shifting my choices. We can do it. And if I find something I'm resistant to, instead of doing it with an attitude, I decide to do it with love -- for myself, for others and for the planet."

Way to go Dezi! You are proof of how much can be done in one day. She had 0 points on Monday and now has over 200, and is in the top 30 participants on our team!
