Well, its been great. I truly feel like I've accomplished something here. And it looks like others have as well. So proud XD

Darn!  I sure wish that I could have recorded my final day.  Being on Hawaii time keeps getting me, as I miss the Pacific time window.  Either way, I ended the EcoChallenge with a bang, with extensive walking and lots of bus travel around Honolulu, so that I could buy seeds at the University of Hawaii for our community garden, explore a museum,...

Final day of the ecochallenge! Great work everyone. I know that this experience has helped me to commit to developing a more sustainable lifestyle. I find this to be a great tool for change and I'd be happy to take the challenge again. Every day for nearly two weeks I have walked at least 2 more miles than usual; I waste less water; I take more...

I'm sad that this is the last day of the eco-challenge!! Some days were tougher than others, but overall I am glad that I was part of it. I will continue to try and do all of my challenges and incorporate them into my every day life. I think what I took away most from this challenge is to Live Simply! We live in a world where we are taught to...

Today we ordered from Hood River Organics, a local CSA. So it's official; I've completed all my goals by the end of the challenge! Right now, we are just starting out with one "farmer's box" which should be enough produce for the week. We also get to add on some home-brewed kombucha. Yum! I am so excited for my order to get here....

overall i feel i did a decent job staying on top of my challenges, i did change one about half way through the event because i kept failing on completing it, but after wards my daily average points increased. this was a very eye opening experience, i never really payed attention to the little habits i had that played a big role in my Eco foot...

Day 15: I actually feel as if my effort to exercise more has become encouragement to eat healthier!
  • October 25 at 6:38 PM
I've been paying attention to some of my other challenges like only flushing when necessary and getting more exercise. I've been walking to get groceries which gives me the exercise and saves gas from my impact as well.

Today I went to a vegan place to eat food with a few friends and the place was called Sweet Lemon Vegan Bistro. It was great, I got vegan Rama pad thai with soy curls as my main source of protein and it was super yummy, it tasted just like regular pad thai. Good food doesn't always have to contain meat!

I am still in the process of buying/building my own worm compost to have at home but in the meantime I have been saving compostable scraps in my freezer (to avoid any bad smell) and I plan on taking them to a local community garden to add to their compost. I think this is a nice way to compost for people who do not want to deal with the set up...
