Taking care of the earth is a daily challenge.

I was not able to complete all my challenges every day, and I wasn't able to fulfill my one-time challenge. :-(  However, I did donate some $$ to NWEI, which I try to do every year, so I did manage to accrue some extra points. :-)

Looking forward to putting all the sustainable challenges into more daily sustainable habits for the rest of the year until we come together again during the next 2018 Ecological Challenge to add even more.  Thank you.

Shipped 22 lbs of dental care product packaging, 8 lb of Brita Filters, and 16 pounds of wine corks today - all collected at the Farmers Market this season. That's about 45 lbs of waste going to make new products instead of being sent to a landfill.  And... my basement is a lot less cluttered!

Trying to reduce the amount of junk mail that I receive. During this Challenge period I: opted out of one Catalogue using Catalogue Choice; asked to be removed from one mailing list using DMA Choice; and sent notes to 13 companies using the postage paid envelopes included in their solicitation. Not much compared to the enormous stack of junk...

We have an electric mower and have planted more and more areas with drought resistant grass so I think that counts.  I will also continue to plant more and minimize the lawn area the rest of the year until we are challenged again in 2018 in the Eco Challenge.  Thank you for the fun in learning how to become more sustainable one habit at a time.

Enjoyed a nice 2+ mile walk  in a park we've never been in before.  It was beautiful, next to a golf course.  Picked up 15 bottles, cups, and cans for recycling.
