    Huge challenge not to purchase anything but food and water! Fish food counts as food, but we are out of laundry detergent . . .

    We are slowly replacing our lawn, that most useless of ground covers! The lawn industry is a frightening monoculture of chemical pesticides and endless thirst for fresh water. Instead, we plant native flowers, vegetables, and herbs, and have just added a tiny fish pond that cycles nutrients -- and may become a meditative spot for those leisure...
