Derek Treuer 10/26/2017 1:38 PMThe 2 weeks of our EcoChallenge went by quickly. My challenges were enjoyable and productive: 1) developed a library of 12 vegan breakfasts with good protein amounts; 2) a well-started habit of at least 1 hour per day exercise; 3) interesting and informative team exchanges of information on many aspects of improving brain health. Thanks and yay Team! -
Mark Bruhn 10/25/2017 2:18 PMSo I had a declutter challenge on my list. I decluttered my parents house slightly by taking an old cot for on them and my brothers house by going up to Pennsylvania to pick up an old car from him for reuse down here. I did declutter our pantry by using up old partial bags of dried fruit to make a trail mix for backpacking this weekend 🙂 -
Cathy Starkweather 10/25/2017 12:52 PMAll done. Hope this has been helpful in figuring out a routine that will work in the future. -
Cathy Starkweather 10/25/2017 6:54 AMThis short article has a few tidbits about alternative approaches: https://nccih.nih.gov/health/tips/alzheimers. I like that it included mindfulness-based stress reduction as being helpful to caretakers. I wish it had included references. -
Cathy Starkweather 10/25/2017 6:26 AMI believe I have reached my goal of 20% reduction of stuff in our storage room (based on the number of boxes). Yay! I still have to deliver items for donation, but it feels good to have reached this point. -
Ann Deupree 10/24/2017 12:35 PMThanks for your email, Brain Health Team co-Captain Cathy! Guess I need to record my half hour swim and 30 minute walk & riding the Nustep. I also walked the Woodcroft trails for 45 minutes yesterday. Isn't the weather great for walking? Well, except for yesterday evening when the wind could blow you away.-
Cathy Starkweather 10/24/2017 1:34 PMSounds like you are well on your way with your exercise program. Dan and I are talking about how to keep up our exercising after this Ecochallenge ends.

Cathy Starkweather 10/24/2017 6:21 AMHere's a page describing what it calls spiritual fitness although its spirituality is in a sort of not necessarily religious way.
http://alzheimersprevention.org/4-pillars-of-prevention/spiritual-fitness/ It claims to reverse amyloid plaque, improve telomeres, and slow progressions of Alzheimer's. However, it does not give references. -
Derek Treuer 10/23/2017 8:05 PMSpent this evening discussing Alzheimer's prevention based on Dr. Bredesen's book.
