Adventures in Thumbholes Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

I read the article I'm sharing here and it hits me, I live by myself and just imagine what my sister will have to go through if something happens to me, so I started cleaning my closet and giving so many things away as well throwing things to the garbage. Thanks for the Eco-challenge experience, it was great seeing so many people committed to doing something positive! Hope we created a routine or just adopt good habits in our daily basis. Some maybe start eating more veggies, other maybe they are vegan now :), others will keep picking up trash or some other just stop littering (that would help a lot), what if other just stop smoking <3!! thanks again!

During my morning walk, I felt so grateful for the nice weather we are having lately here in Texas. Having my dogs with me and knowing that Bruno my rescued dog is behaving better, makes me feel so happy, and just confirmed me that I love my Mother Earth and all the work we do together is worthed.

Not only did I step away from the computer this afternoon to take a short walk, but I also filled up my neighborhood's little free library with books.

Since we started the Eco-Challenge I've been saving the peels and anything that can be composted. This morning I was watering my plants and the dry leaves will be included in the composting batch.  I found out last night that one lettuce head in the landfills takes 25 years to get decomposed. I haven't watched the movie, but I'm looking forward to.  If any of you have watched would you please share what do you think about it. Wish I knew it earlier.

Thanks Erin for sharing the link, I will watch it soon!! Now that I have woken up and learned so much, I more aware of everything such what I eat if it's local. I wish more people were open to learn and do their part.

As a trail runner and lover of our public lands, I give back whenever I can - this past Saturday, I spent the morning pulling ivy with friends and the Forest Park Conservancy. Lots of fun and always rewarding - even in the rain!

I went to Sprouts and I brought  my own bags with me and let my friend to borrow now, and she didn't use plastic for veggies. Reuse a bag my boss throw away. I reuse all I can!

One thing I'd like to do in 2018 is support businesses that work hard to be "green". I stayed at a hotel in Buena Vista that had a free breakfast. I was glad to see that they had all compostable plates, cups, spoons... They also had the option to use dishware rather than disposable items. I will definitely book at the hotel again. I am also going to be conscious of restaurants that use compostable or recyclable take out containers.

Yesterday was my 1st time riding my bicycle after almost 2 months, and this time took me 28 minutes, instead of 2 hrs back in August after Harvey hurricane. TOTAL = 11  MILES !  Including 4 miles the 4 miles,
my friend and I rode after work on Terry Hershey Park, here is the picture.

I've had a running injury, so haven't been able to hit the trails lately. Knowing that I still need outdoor time, today I took a 30-minute walk (one of my EcoChallenges) and I'm glad I did - I was reminded why I love October!

Beautiful picture. We've had a beautiful fall in here in Colorado but the colors are not quite that vibrant. So sorry to hear you are injured. I hope you recover quickly. I've been doing more trash pick up around my school and on the trails. I am encouraged to see fewer dog poo bags.
