Cat litter and pet food bags are the biggest contributor to my trash.  I've done pretty well reducing trash otherwise   Does anyone have ideas for low-waste cat litter?  Or, know anywhere to buy dry cat food in bulk so I could bring my own bag?  Thanks! :-)

When we host big parties or celebrations, sometimes we momentarily forget all of our daily sustainability habits like bringing our durables, composting, and recycling.  It takes a little planning ahead, but we can remember these sustainable habits when we are guests or hosting too!

Our office park is hosting a BBQ today for all the tenants.  I stopped by early and found that the property managers had surrounded the BBQ area with garbage cans (one garbage can had a recycle decal on it).  I offered to help set up and brought over our portable garbage, recycling, and food waste receptacles so we could all easily recycle our bottles and cans and scrape our plates for composting.

Back at my office, I sent out an invitation for the BBQ and suggested bringing along one of our durable plates.  I need reminders to bring my durable dishware on the go too!   (And we're lucky to have dishes and a dishwasher in our breakroom!)

Lots of towns have a free lending program for event recycling receptacles.  Give it a try next time you are hosting!
