Dana's actions
Create Your Own Action
Recycle & Reuse
Go through box of old Christmas cards and make tags, postcards, and bookmarks out of them in order to reuse them. I picked it because I have thousands of Christmas cards that I have collected over the last 42 years. I will donate the rest to organizations who do the same thing.
Health
Exercise Daily
I will exercise daily for 20 minute(s) per day for two weeks.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 per day that I do this.
Waste
Lobby for Reusables
I will lobby my workplace to have reusable dishes and silverware in order to minimize disposables.
Energy
Disable Screen Savers
I will disable screen savers and will put the computer to sleep instead, saving up to 28% more energy.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day for two weeks that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Food
Zero-Waste Cooking
I will cook 1 meal(s) with zero waste each day.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Food
Choose Organic Ingredients
I will enjoy 1 meal(s) cooked with organic ingredients per day.
Food
Eat Meatless Meals
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) per day.

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Dana Vandeberghe 10/24/2017 4:03 PMI took some stuff to Far West Recycling in Hillsboro. They take all kinds of things that Goodwill, Salvation Army, Value Village, and others won't take that will keep you from disposing something into the landfill (i.e. mattresses, older electronics, sleeper couches). I also like the Habitat for Humanity Reuse Center in Beaverton. They took all my excess landscaping supplies (like cement blocks, extra lumber, etc).-
Rebecca Snook 10/24/2017 4:48 PMThat was a really good idea taking things you can't use to them! I'll bet a lot of people (myself included) would not have thought of that!

Dana Vandeberghe 10/23/2017 10:00 AMI just spent the weekend going through 40 years of old Christmas cards. I scanned the ones I want a record of and then re-used them for multiple craft projects or prepped them to be donated. -
Dana Vandeberghe 10/19/2017 1:35 PMI started doing Blue Apron. Not only can I cook without wasting food (as the sizes are perfect proportioned) but there is also no waste as everything in the box is recyclable. -
Dana Vandeberghe 10/17/2017 4:30 PMLooking for other ways to recycle? Donate old crayons to "The Crayon Initiative" or hair/fur trimmings (if you own a beauty or pet salon) to "Matter of Trust" who use it to clean up oil spills. -
