Today was much more peaceful. the sun was out, but you could see the impact that the wind and rain had on our community. I am thankful for the people in our community and their work to help everyone recover from the storm. Today, my son took pictures of the clouds. It is fun to see his view of nature through the lens of a camera. He and I can look at the same sky and see two very different scenes.

Yesterday was a stormy day for us here in the U.P. The winds ripped trees from the ground and limbs from the highest point. To see the power of nature is incredible. I was able to walk in the evening. The wind was so loud and rain so powerful that it was difficult to  see or hear as I walked my dog. Moments like these are humbling.

Even though I was outside today, I actually spent quality time indoors watching outdoor/nature films at a festival. Fascinating how I can be so moved by the subject matter and beauty of nature through film. A powerful tool.

Today I did not complete my second challenge to de-clutter. If anything my pile got bigger. The busier I am - the  bigger my piles get.

Spending time outside is natural. Taking moments to myself outside are less common. This evening the sunset was extraordinary. The colors were brilliant, and for that moment in time I remembered to just be and take it all in. Stop my thoughts and be in the moment.

I have spent LOTS of time outside each day for the past couple days. I am fortunate that my job allows me to do so. What I notice is that because it is my job, I don't always take the time to meditate or be mindful for 10-15 minutes of that time. Instead I take a moment here or there. this challenge has helped me be more mindful during the time  I am outside.

I forgot to post yesterday. Spent some time outside - not enough. But I did work near a window so I could enjoy the daylight. I noticed during my week that many people in my community will drive to the lake and eat lunch in their cars and look out over the water. Kudos!
