OK so haven't been able to get online much this week to update what's going on. I was able to go to a local shelter and meet the caretaker there. I also met the animals and came back later that day and donated a few blankets. I will be going back in the near future to walk the pups. I haven't explored the rest of the daily challenges to see what else I could add to the roster so I will be doing that soon too. So, no feedback from my people on joining my team but that actually mimics my life... April: Team of 1!!!
Today, to kickoff my first EcoChallenge of 2017, I escorted my mother to the hospital for a visit. Sound simple and some may even say it is my responsibility to do so, but in light of the beginning of my EcoChallenge 2017 efforts, I decided to start at MY beginning. The woman who concieved me, carried me for 9 months, and labored me into this world on a cold winter's morning in December of '77. You would have to know our quirky and questionable relationship to understand why this is any of a challenge, but I've got 2 more people to help today and trust me you don't have that much time! The reason why I'm deserving of credit is because I became a little overwhelmed on the 10 foot walk we had to the car. I had all the bags and O_2 bottle and the pillow. Then the line getting caught was dragging behind and we got into the car and I took a deep breath andI remembered the commitments I had made for today. I put the car in drive and I began to drive, slowly, as to not jerk her too hard. I slightly turned up her old school music drove like her name was Miss Daisy. I took corners that she didn't have to hold onto the O-shit handle for, talked softly and positively and when I knew she looked over at me, I smiled. I parked and walked her to the door arm in arm, like we were two companions holding on tight so they may gaze around without tripping. I made a promise to myself in honor of the first EcoChallenge ever made and for every single one that has been done: To make this one, and all the challenges I complete from here on out, a HABIT in daily life. To be mindful of how the other person may feel and always ALWAYS be kind, especially to the ones we love! Let's go EcoChallenge 2017!!!!
I am excited to start the challenges on Oct. 11, 2017. I picked challenges that went with the kind of changes I am making in my own life. I'm looking forward to giving back and hoping that the EcoChallenge 2017 has a positive effect on the world. I challenge you to join!!!!
