Marychris Sitton 10/25/2017 6:01 PMToday I went to a vegan place to eat food with a few friends and the place was called Sweet Lemon Vegan Bistro. It was great, I got vegan Rama pad thai with soy curls as my main source of protein and it was super yummy, it tasted just like regular pad thai. Good food doesn't always have to contain meat! -
Marychris Sitton 10/24/2017 11:30 PMI think 5 minute showers are the best. It helps me save water and time in the morning! Feels good knowing that I save at least 20 gallons or more of water each day I shower for 5 minutes! I even cut my hair and it takes less time to wash it. -
Marychris Sitton 10/23/2017 6:44 PMI've basically become a vegetarian for this whole challenge. I've tried being vegetarian before, but I couldn't do it because, it was just too hard for me finding different ways to find different sources of protein. Thats why I became pescetarian. Anyways, it feels good knowing that I've help the environment by not eating a lot of meat! -
Marychris Sitton 10/22/2017 12:44 PMReusing water bottles are neat!! They are a really good thing to do because I've already saved about 16+ plastic water bottles. To keep doing this, a great idea would be to buy a really cool water bottle and maybe add stickers and such to really make it your own, like a hyrdroflask. It feels good to use reusable bottles because I know that I am contributing to making the world a little less plastic-free. Imagine how many water bottles we can save if everyone did this. -
Marychris Sitton 10/20/2017 9:37 PMEnergy, energy, energy! Today I will be writing about the energy that I have been trying to save by powering down my computer and other electronics. Everyday, I don't really power down my monitor/laptop after every time that I use it, which is a really bad habit. But, for the past few days I've been trying to get into the habit of doing so to save energy! I usually put my monitor and laptop to sleep so that I can instantly log on and start using it faster, but I realized that it wastes so much energy! So now I've been turning off the power completely after every each use. -
Marychris Sitton 10/18/2017 6:38 PMDay 8 of my challenge and so far, everything's going good. Wanted to touch on one of the challenges, which is turning off the sink while brushing my teeth. I had no idea you could save so much water just by turning off the sink while brushing for even a few minutes. I mean, I never really leave the water running while doing so, I've always turned it off no matter what. It's always been a habit of mine since I was younger. So it's a very good habit! -
Marychris Sitton 10/16/2017 4:25 PMFor my first few challenges, I've decided to start with what I thought were very simple challenges, to start off this eco-challenge. For a day, I ate meatless courses, drank water out of a reusable water bottle, brushed my teeth with leaving the faucet off, and took a quick 5 minute shower. As a pescetarian, it was really hard for me not to eat anything with no seafood, because seafood is my main source of protein and for a day, I decided to buy and make vegetarian courses, which were very delicious. Finding other sources of non-meat protein is quite challenging for me but, as I research more, I will probably get used to it. Knowing that I'm helping the environment even just a little, makes me feel good knowing that I've made a small impact in a day.
