For the challenge I have decided to mix up my daily routine. After riding home from work I will now go for a 30 min walk through my neighborhood and pick a different route everyday. My old routine usually involved immediately logging on and reading up on the net so this will also be a way for me to cut some screen time.

I live in the Lloyd so no matter which direction I head there are plenty of locales with high walkability. Today I chose to walk to Irving Park and was treated to some pleasant sunshine.

I will be using this time to also take in some new music. Listening while walking or using public transit is actually one of my favorite ways to enjoy music. It maybe doesnt compare to the hi-fi setup at home but I find myself focusing more as I move around. Chad Vangaalen's new album Light Information was a good one today and "I really don't need it, until you tell me that I need it." from the song "Static Shape" resonated with me as an anti-consumerist and environmentalist.

I'm vegan and one of my daily challenges is to cook a new recipe every day that features organic and/or local ingredients. I'm thinking about all of the new recipes I will try during this challenge. Here is a Jackfruit 'Pulled Pork' sandwich I made a few weeks ago with a pasta salad featuring veggies grown in my friends' curbside garden!

Go by bike! You'll personally benefit by getting to see your community from a new perspective while your physical and mental health will improve. Most important of all, by choosing a bicycle over a motor vehicle, you will be cutting back on your contribution to an industry that has shown no regard for its impact on our planet.

If you get a flat, patch your tube and keep using it! You can keep using the same tube for a very long time. This tube has over 10 patches and has lasted me years of daily commuting.
