Went through a stack of old magazines and catalogues today, bundled them up, and donated them to my wife's school for kids' projects!  They're so happy!  I'm so happy!

The irony in choosing "less screen time" as a challenge here is that I actually have to spend extra time online, in front of a screen, to get it logged...  :-/

Huge laundry cleanup in my closet!  My wife was impressed!

Got a lot of work done around the house today, and a lot of errands run.  I'm pooped, but there's still more that needs my attention.  A mother's work is never done.

One of my goals during the challenge is to mulch the base of my trees to increase absorbancy and to prevent runoff.  This morning while walking the dog, I had a little look at the big southern magnolia in my front yard and started making a plan around mulching it.  I'll probably head over to Ace Hardware over the weekend to pick up materials.  I'm considering hazelnut shells.  Does anyone have experience with these?

When I picked up hazelnut shells this morning, the cashier also said they're good for burning, that they burn slow and hot.  Interesting!  I may throw some in the fire pit next summer and see what happens!

One of the things I've read about hazelnut shells is that they can deter cats from using these areas as their litter boxes.  This is not a major concern of mine, I just found it interesting.

A new book came in the mail today.... here's something to take me away from screen time in the mornings while waiting for my daughter to get ready for school!

I was waiting for my daughter to finish getting ready for school, and while I usually scroll through my phone to kill time, today I picked up a Reader's Digest instead!  20 minutes, no screen.  Easy!

Cleaned out the fridge today of expired food, and offered up some extra garden produce to a neighbor.  I love sharing!

Saturday, before we headed out for date night, my wife and I worked on tidying up the back porch.  We found a few things that were better off donated than cluttering our porch any longer, so we combined those with the "Goodwill Box" we had already started and dropped everything off at Teen Challenge (one of our favorite charities).  The porch looks great and is ready for winter!

Day 3, not off to a bad start!  I was able to take yesterday off work to deal with some family obligations, and I built in some time for myself to unwind, and NOT in front of a screen.  I took a little walk with our dog, Stewart, and when I got back, I worked a little bit in our quickly-dwindling garden.  I found 4 zucchini, though, that I will happily share with my neighbor.
