    My two biggest takeaways were:
    1. finding enriching ways to reduce screen time by learning to crochet. It turns out it's a glorious way to pass the time while waiting in long lines at the DMV and such. I almost wanted it to take longer so I could finish another row.

    and
    2. Adopting a needs versus wants attitude when making purchases as a general rule. This lesson has set in for my family as well and that has been very satisfying to see.

Adopting the needs vs. wants mentality has had a big impact on me. To at least insert that thought before each purchase, even if it doesn't ultimately alter the course, is a very good filter by which to consider your consumption! Have taken the time to talk to my Daughter about this one too and embed it in our daily lives.

Turning down disposable, single use cutlery, napkins and dishes in trade for the durables at my desk. I'm REALLY looking forward to the green boxes coming back to PDX!

I walked everywhere this weekend. Even in the pouring rain. Enjoyed every minute!

Ok, last post on this one because it's complete. I eliminated about 10 hours of screen time making this. Now on to the next project!

This is still my favorite challenge. Crocheting has eliminated over 6 hours of screen time this week alone. And I finally switched to a real project instead of practice, so I thought I'd share.

I sure wish I could reply in line with yours and not the whole thread... But I digress...

Screens are screens, right? I'm making gifts instead of perusing FB or Instagram. (And then, of course, posting the photo to one or both of those platforms!! :D )

Practicing on one of the crochet projects I've committed to. It's this that keeps me from binge watching Game Of Thrones for at least an hour a night during the challenge. Patterns like these are nearly impossible to understand so they take quite a lot of concentration and focus, so it becomes a meditation in itself.

Turns out the decluttering challenge has lit a serious fire under me. I've been wanting to get instruments up off the floor to have easy access and to be able to store their cases out of sight. So today I did this. And tomorrow I'll reorganize and clear out the closet under the stairs where the cases will be stored to make room for stuff used every day instead of deep storage.

Took two more bags to the donation drop today and a 3rd to the consignment shop. My goal is to be as clutter free as humanly possible by Jan. 1. I’m also committed to buying only the clothes I absolutely NEED between now and then.

Watched Food Inc. with my daughter last night. So much good insight into clean eating.
