Ivan Idso 10/23/2017 11:53 AMHaving connected my new energy monitor last week, I found that my air-source heat pump draws 220 watts even when not being used. They apparently use this to keep the unit warmed up so its ready for use. I am following up with the manufacturer to see if I can shut this feature off. -
Ivan Idso 10/16/2017 6:58 AMWe had a wedding to attend this weekend, so I failed on the meatless meals one day, and because there was only the choice of disposables for some drinks and utensils at the wedding and hotel, I failed both days on that. Even though I failed this weekend, the Ecochallenge has raised my awareness and I will get back on track today!-

Ivan Idso 10/11/2017 11:34 AMWell, I was to make an appointment for a physical exam. I called but there were no appointments available so I am on a wait list. That's disappointing, but I will call that completed for the Ecochallenge! I would have continued to put it off if it weren't for this challenge, so thanks! -
Ivan Idso 10/10/2017 7:07 AMTomorrow's the big day! It will be difficult sticking with my 2 meatless meals and not using disposables for the two weeks, because their use is so prevalent. I already make an effort to avoid these so I do think I will be successful as long as I don't forget. The Ecochallenge and this website will help me be more accountable! Good luck everyone!!-

Ivan Idso 10/06/2017 6:52 AMBe sure to check out the MRES "Sustainable Home Tour" tomorrow, October 6th, featuring homes throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin including Rochester, La Crosse, Winona, Red Wing and Minneapolis/St Paul. This is a great way to get ideas! -
Ivan Idso 10/05/2017 7:44 AMFor my "Use an Energy Meter" challenge, I had already purchased a TED energy monitor but hadn't connected it yet. I am in the process of connecting the system now so I will monitor total power from grid, electric boiler, electric heat pump, water heater, electric baseboard, and electric range. This system continuously monitors these channels so I primarily want to monitor how much energy my home requires to heat over the winter. I hope to have it connected soon.
