Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 45-minute walk outside each day.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Duggan Foster 10/25/2017 11:45 AMThe challenge has been a lot of fun! I have learned a lot about myself and about habits that needed to be changed! I will admit, it has not been easy! But it has been real rewarding! Here is what I have accomplished while participating in the challenge.
I am slowly replacing all the lights in my house with more energy efficient ones. And have really focused on turning the lights off in a room if I am not going to be in there for awhile.
I'm spending more time outside, taking walks and enjoying the nature!
Taking shorter showers! Which took a little bit to get used to!
I am recycling more. At work, thanks to me, we now have bins for recycling.-
April Ann Fong 10/26/2017 11:37 AMNice job!

Duggan Foster 10/21/2017 2:47 PMThings are going good! My dog and I went for a walk, and the rain and everything!
I bought a timer for my fish tank, so I don't have to leave the light on all the time during the day. It turns pn for a few hours in the afternoon. I get the Morning Sun in through my windows so I don't need it in the mornings.
I am contemplating buying some energy efficient lights. I know they're kind of expensive, so does anybody have any input?-
April Ann Fong 10/23/2017 3:02 PMThe lights are less expensive in the long run! :D

Duggan Foster 10/18/2017 11:40 AMI've gotten used to the darkness of my house when I first enter. With my vision problems this isn't easy, the light switches are not conveniently located, but I have lamps that I turn on to help me get to the light switch!
I got up this morning and put my dog and put her rain jacket on and we went for a walk. It was a little cold, but the fresh air was refreshing! She really enjoyed it!-
April Ann Fong 10/19/2017 5:41 PMOh my! Isn't this what the clap on/clap off thing is for? I actually have my lamp on a timer, so it is bright right when I plan to get home! Yay for a fresh walk with your dog!

Duggan Foster 10/11/2017 4:11 PMToday is the first day of the improved me!
At work we are putting out recycling bins for cans. We are always finding cans in the trash, so this way they will have a new way to dispose of them!
My house seemed so dark when I got home from school. But it was actually kind of relaxing! To add to this challenge I am trying to make an effort to turn off lights when I leave a room.
I have a five minute sand glass shower timer! I didn't quite make the 5 minutes, but am working towards it! I realized I spend a lot of wasted time in the shower!-
April Ann Fong 10/12/2017 10:44 AMNice job, Duggan!!! You are doing great on your challenges. It is amazing to realize how long our showers can be! Good luck working on this!

Duggan Foster 10/04/2017 10:52 AMI am really excited about my challenges! For my Energy Challenge, I have always wanted to be better at turning my lights of when I am not in a room. So what a way to start!
My Nature Challenge, I need to spend more time with my dog anyways, so both of us going for a walk will be good!
My Water Challenge, I have a shower timer and I am anxious to see how fast I need to move in the shower!
And finally, my Waste Challenge. My office generates a lot of cans. So I am going to put out bins for my employees to add their used bottles and cans to.-
April Ann Fong 10/10/2017 2:41 PMNice!
