This has been a good challenge for me. I think I will continue to challenge myself to do less driving and be more conscious of the waste that I am producing.

My bike is seeing some serious mileage these days and it has been really nice to save some money on gas.

Drove to our field trip today, but habitat restoration team saved 7 trees! So I'd say that was a successful day.

Got drenched on my bike ride back from school, but it was still better than driving! Day two of no plastic was also a success. I wonder if there is a way to hand out halloween candy that isn't individually wrapped in plastic... or should I just be a halloween grinch with no candy?

At least it was warm-ish! The pineapple express is warmer than most rains! Yay on reducing plastic--it is so hard! I'm lucky that no children visit me!

I watched Bag It today. I won't likely be forgetting my reusable mug now! Going forward I will be trying to use no single use plastics. I know this especially difficult with things like pasta that you can't get in bulk bins, but I have stopped buying bread in plastic and started making my own! I am going to have to stop buying those energy bars and granola bars and seek out different snacks. I don't think there is any way of getting around plastic caps on things like sauces, but I will be looking into it.

Wasn't Bag It good! Yikes about plastics is right. I think we need to move away from plastic! Good job working on this! I started making my own Lara bar like things with dates, oats, and such. Sometimes they are awesome!

Walked 40 minutes through my neighborhood to catch the shuttle bus to school and made sure to have my reusable mug this time. I have also been trying to get my room mates more involved and knowledgeable about our garden. I have several years of experience working in agriculture and I forget that certain things are not common knowledge, like how to harvest different vegetables. It has been a good room mate bonding activity!

Well, you're getting your steps in! And a reusable mug--yay! Yes, I've had lots of students not know how to harvest lettuce and green leaves on kale...it's good to teach people how to grow and eat well! :D Nice work, Kim!

I had to drive today for a class lab on Mount Hood, but I made sure to pack in as many people as I could! I failed again on not bringing a reusable coffee container. Though, I did take only a 5 minute shower and got to see areas of Mount Hood I had never seen before.

Carpooling is good! Yay! 5 minute showers are good, too! Are you in Sue's class?

I planted lettuce, arugula, carrots, and nasturium in my garden today, but I drove to Parke Diem and then I also drank coffee out of a non-reusable cup, so fail on those two challenges today.

WOW! If you have not had the chance to walk the trails behind the school I highly suggest you do! It is beautiful back there. Though some serious ivy action needs to be done, so I am wondering if that is something we can work on in the habitat restoration team.

Today I added to my herb garden with some winter vegetables. I have a small plot next to my house where I have began planting kale and carrots. Next up will be arugula, chard, and nasturium!
