Just noticed the diversity of names on the 1st page of the Sustainable Saints team page.  I could only guess which countries and cultures are in these folks' heritage, but well done, MHCC.

It's been a fun two weeks.  Which team will win?  For me, regardless of who takes 1st place (Go, Sustainable Saints!) our planet is the true winner.  And, by having a healthier planet, we -- and generations to come -- are all winners.  Well done, everyone!

It's fun to see so many people 'competing' about things that impact the environment.  Hopefully, these new habits we're creating will last throughout the year.

Just returned from a walk.  Saw a medium-sized deciduous tree that's about 50% covered in English ivy.  I'm wondering if the property owner knows that English ivy can kill the plants on which it attaches.

I wish we could outlaw the planting of ivy and other invasive species. Or at the very least get state agencies to stop planting it. So many hillsides in Oregon have become completely unstable because the ivy has killed or is killing the trees that belong there. Hate that stuff!

It's time for my daily walk -- and to help our team get 48,000+ points.

I just read a guest column in the Oregonian about the Clean Water Act, which went into effect 45 years ago.  If you'd like to get a sense of how Oregon's water is doing, here's the URL:  http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2017/10/45_years_of_clean_water_and_no.html?org=1515&lvl=100&ite=58&lea=23487&ctr=0&par=1&trk=a2V1W00000MzY5YUAV

Earlier today, I saw a flock of about 150 Canada geese flying.  It reminded me of one of my favorite places -- Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge in Washington.  With today's rains, it's not the best day to drive around the lower part of the refuge. But,  I'm guessing there are thousands of geese -- along with, some sandhill cranes -- at RWR today.

I'm finding it difficult to stop and appreciate the sunrise and sunset.  Something to work on.  :-)
