Waste
Visit a Waste Management Facility
I will visit a local dump/transfer station, material recovery facility, and/or landfill to learn about the waste stream.
Health
Avoid refined sugar
I will adopt a diet free of refined sugars, which eliminates sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.
Health
Healthy Sleep
I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.

Eat Meals Outside
I will eat 1 meal(s) outside each day.

Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day for two weeks that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Waste
Reduce Unwanted Mail
I will reduce the amount of unwanted mail I receive (catalogs, phone books, etc.).
Simplicity
Buy Only What I Need
I will not buy anything except items required for health and safety.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Elpidio De La Cruz 10/25/2017 7:27 PMI am really happy and satisfied with the efforts done by the Penn State Eco Challenge group, even though we did not get the first spot, we surely developed much more sustainable habits that are now, thank to Eco Challenge, a routine!-

Elpidio De La Cruz 10/25/2017 7:01 PMI finally got myself a reusable coffee cup and a reusable water bottle. I feel very happy because coffee cups are my main landfill contribution, and cutting them off makes a huge difference!-
Marilyn Pitts 10/25/2017 7:02 PMWell done!

Elpidio De La Cruz 10/16/2017 1:11 PMI am about to start a 30-day zero waste challenge, which will consist of producing zero waste for a whole month (I will practically eat nothing but greens!). While I will be doing this by myself and it will also be a huge challenge, I am very happy to see which habits I will change as I go through! -
Elpidio De La Cruz 10/14/2017 4:31 PMI reduced the amount of paper waste I produce by naturally drying my hands when there’s no air drier!! 😊 -
Elpidio De La Cruz 10/11/2017 6:50 AMI am very happy to have joined Penn State’s Ecochallenge group! It’s a way of motivating myself even more, in terms of sustainability-related topics and habits.
There are many things I need to improve on, in order to become a more sustainable person, and this page and group help me accomplish that on a very easy way!!
